When you are looking to make sure that you have a great party, you’ll find that the first thing that you need to think about is making sure that you have great food!  The question then becomes, what you are going to serve, and though the choice is up to you, you may find yourself in something of a quandary.  What kind of party are you having, and who are you inviting?  You’ll find that sitting down to think about it can go a long way.

Are you having a holiday party?  An anniversary party?  A birthday party?  A party for the Super Bowl?  When you think about it, you’ll find that the kind of food you serve should be related to the kind of party you are having.  Think about the theme of your party and what kind of foods that you are going to be having there.

Luau Party
When you want to recall the fun and the good times of a tropical getaway without ever leaving your home, you’ll find that looking into luau foods are an important part of getting the right effect.  You can roast a pig, and though it’s more common to roast a part of the pig, you can always go whole hog so to speak and roast the whole thing!  You can always make up some pork butt in the kitchen oven or you can think about some spam and rice dishes.

Sports Fun Party
When you are having a great time and the food is just to keep you alive while you watch the game, make sure that you consider finger foods.  Look for meatballs and wings and barbecue weiners and think about things like small sandwiches, chips with dip and cheeseballs.  Keep things fun by making sure that you have lots of deserts.  For something more hearty, consider ribs or potato salad, looking at a recipe that will suit you well.

Miscellaneous
No matter what else is going on, make sure that you are comfortable getting the choices that you are going to make.  If you have some time, plan out a menu and think of some of the following options:

Homemade Pizza
Do it yourself salad makings
Waffle fries
Kabobs
Bagel pizzas
Vegetable trays and dip
Cheese tray
Chicken wings (lots of different flavors and degree of spiciness0
Mini-quesadillas
Mini-hamburgers

There’s plenty more that you can add to a list of great party foods, so now that you are thinking about it, add your own. Think about your theme, think about the foods that are going to be available at this time of year, and think about the people that you are inviting.  If the  party is outside, you can stay pretty informal and if it is inside, you will be able to get more detailed and elegant.  Remember that choosing your foods can make a big difference, so choose wisely!
