Apple Picking

September 23, 2008 by NEM

what is that growth?
My five year old daughter Madison had a field trip to the Apple Orchard today.  I love Apple Picking, and I love going on field trips with her and her class.  I brought along my other little girl, Hailee who is two. Hailee has been apple picking before, however she was too small to remember, so she was very excited this morning when I buckled her into her car seat, and we began the drive.
When we got to the orchard there were two tractors ready to pull the classes on a hay ride!  I always loved a hay ride as a kid, so I figured that the girls would be super excited as well.  Not so much!  Madison was excited and climbed into the wagon quickly, while Hailee let out a GINORMOUS shriek, yelling “No Momma, No!”  Hailee and I opted to walk behind the wagon instead, which was no big deal; hey, I could use the extra exercise anyways!

When the tractor stopped and let the little ones off, we got our bags and descended into the vast spread of apple trees.  We headed straight for the Macs, and ended up picking a small bag and a large bag, and then everyone boarded the wagon to head back, everyone except Hailee and I that is!  When we got back to the main gate we learned how to make a tasty apple cider!  It was a bunch of fun!
After we got home I sorted through the apples to wash them.  I noticed, on several apples, small little bite marks.  Hailee didn’t just pick her apples, she sampled them too.  I think it is safe to say that Hailee definitely enjoyed her trip to the orchard.  We are looking forward to many more!

Sounds like a wicked good trip! :) My two year old loves apple picking too. It is hard to keep him from eating all the apples tho!
